La Costa de Papito is located 4 hours driving time from San Jose at Playa Cocles one and a half kilometers (1 mile) southeast of Puerto Viejo town. We are 5 minutes by car outside of town on the beach road, 10 minutes by bicycle and 25 minutes walking.

Interestingly, while it rains everywhere else in Costa Rica during
September and October, on the south Caribbean coast we have only
sunny weather! Apparently the hurricanes passing deep in the
Caribbean suck out the moisture here on the coast and circle it back
as rain in the Central Valley and the Pacific coast. |

flattens out into a smooth transparent blue, ideal for snorkeling,

• Return Trip from La Costa de Papito to your San Jose hotel (departures 6:30am and 2:00pm).
• $49 per person 6:00am Arenal to La Costa de Papito.
• 9:40am La Costa de Papito to Arenal (La Fortuna). -
Free transportation
From your San Jose hotel to La Costa de Papito as part of the exciting wilderness adventure Pacuare River whitewater rafting trip ($99 per person) on your way down here or going back to San Jose. Pick up at your San Jose hotel is at 6:00-6:30am and your luggage is kept safe and secure by the rafting company, Exploradores Outdoors, so that you can relax and enjoy the trip.

Let us know if you want to rent a car and we will have Poas Rent a Car contact you. We have negociated a special 10% "Papito Discount" for you. -
Private Van with A/C
For $195 you can be met at the airport or picked up at your San Jose hotel and transported directly to La Costa de Papito. Your return trip to your hotel or the airport can also be arranged.

Gran terminal del Caribe- calle central/ avenida 11 y 13- $9 one way -4 hours to Puerto Viejo Leaves San José 6:00am, 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm.(Taxis at the Puerto Viejo bus stop charge about $3.50 to come to La Costa de Papito). Buses leaves Puerto Viejo for San José at 7:30am., 9:00am. 11:00am. and 4:00pm.
